Anxiety

Anxiety is the price we pay for civilisation," said Sigmund Freud.

In a world where we are constantly on the move in an ocean of stimuli, our brains struggle day after day to adapt and adjust.

A new job, perhaps a new school, moving to a new house,or a difficult project are all situations in which our minds feel stress and therefore need to adapt.

Sometimes, when this becomes difficult and everything seems too much, we experience moments of anxiety. Sometimes we can get over them easily, but often the state of anxiety becomes chronic and affects our quality of life.

Anxiety is an affective state characterised by a diffuse feeling of uncertainty, fear of a perceived or potential danger.

If unrecognised, anxiety brings physical, psychological and behavioural symptoms to the fore. These include:

  • Insomnia, interrupted or restless sleep

  • Muscle tension

  • Indigestion

  • Fatigue

  • Brain fog

  • Increased heart rate

  • Restlessness

  • Difficulty making decisions or expressing yourself

  • Procrastination

  • Social isolation

Anxiety disorders are usually treated with therapy, medication or both, and at Praxis Alive we provide a conscious and safe environment to identify the source of the anxiety and guide you to a state of well-being.
